I have a project that has to do with stocks and commodities for college...?

I am required to pick a single stock and single commodity to watch over the next 12 weeks, and the one with the biggest change for the better, the more points I will get. I am new to this concept, so any help would be appreciated. I have a few ideas, but just would like to see it I am on right track. My idea was Ford and corn.
