I retired and moved to Honduras ten years ago and have never regretted it. While Northern Australia is more tropic than Costa Rica, Darwin 12 degrees S. latitude vs. 18 degrees N. latitude at San Juan, Tico T has some valid points and I expect your mom would like CR best.
